It is such a shame to lose our dear friend Ann Gowar. We first met her at the OGU (University of Bristol) in 1978 as newly arrived Aussies on our first trip to the UK. Ann and her husband John soon made us feel welcome as they did for so many new arrivals. Ann was a stalwart of the labs and had the GC–MS working a treat. Without her efforts, and those of Sue Trott in the office, it would have been a much less efficient and pleasant working environment. We will miss her. Our sincerest condolences to John.
