Ann and John have always been there as part of the fabric of my life. Ann was my Mum's oldest and dearest friend and they shared many adventures together before I was born (I remember tales of red wine and sardines, tents and Ann's brave approach to travel at sea). My Mum had the upmost love and respect for Ann and cherished their friendship throughout her life. When I told my Mum I was pregnant, Ann was the first person she called to share the happy news.

As a child, I remember sharing many holidays and trips with Ann and John and the great excitment that their arrival always brought. Ann was always full of fun and joy and a willing participant in our games. A few years on and Ann was just the same with my daughter who adored her.

After losing my Mum and Dad, spending time with Ann and John has been extra special, like going home. Giving Ann a hug made me feel close to my Mum and I know she would be so pleased to see us together.

I am so very proud to be named after such a special lady.
